Tastemaker Feed: Strengthening Your Resolve …a Little

We feel it too — 2017 is hitting hard. But let’s look forward and celebrate the fact that we’ve made it to February and, to some degree, have still managed to keep resolutions top of mind. Okay, so maybe we wavered a bit from certain lofty goals. Or maybe we wavered a lot. But instead of focusing on what mountains we haven’t yet climbed, let’s not discount the power of the revised resolutions that allow us to make some kind of change. In short, we’re not beating ourselves up over one or two tiny blips, and neither should you!

It’s important to remember that self-care includes time spent with friends, quiet moments of solitude, and remembering to enjoy the little things in life. Treat yourself, in whatever way you can. This is how our VIP members have been doing so in the past few weeks.

Coffee-and-Chocolate-Pots-de-Creme-Let-the-Baking-Begin-13
These little Pot de Cremes or little pots of cream are very quick and easy to make, as they take about 15-20 minutes to put together. The hardest part of this recipe is actually waiting for them to set.
—Marina

Chocolate is the ultimate form of self-care, because you can enjoy it alone or with loved ones. In her recent post on Let the Baking Begin, Marina offered up a chocolate dessert that’s low on added sugar, so it feels indulgent but won’t kill your resolutions.

This side dish comes together fairly quickly (especially if you buy pomegranate seeds instead of a fresh pomegranate – because is anyone else still terrible at cutting those things open?).
—Ellen and Aimee

If you’re easing your way into healthy but still crave a little something sweet, we noticed Ellen and Aimee turning to fruit. You might think fruit is a summer dish, but this seasonable dish is versatile enough to pair with chicken for dinner, or sweet enough to serve as a dessert.

I’m not a morning person and often I miss breakfast. My goals this year is to start doing both.
—Essie

If healthy is your endgame, Essie’s approach was to start with breakfast every morning. We’re still working on rolling out of bed after only hitting snooze once, but that smoothie might be enough reason to get up and out the door STAT.

Alright, now that we’re drooling over these photos, we’re happy to have healthy takes on delectable eats. While we break for lunch, tell us how you’re indulging this year, while still holding onto your 2017 goals.
