Tastemaker Feed: Smells like Flowers

Here’s the thing about spring: in the best of times and in the worst of times, you can create it in your own home, regardless of what might be going on outside your window. This, in our opinion, pretty much makes it the coolest season ever. Feeling blue? A fresh vase of flowers might do the trick. Missing the sunshine? Try switching our your curtains for a lighter color and texture to let in as much light as possible.

The most full proof plan, however – at least in our experience – has definitely been to fill a home with a transformative scent. Smells are so closely connected to memory and nostalgia, so whether you’re a candle aficionado or own ten different moisturizers (that all smell like ten different things), you probably know what we’re talking about.

Here’s how some of our favorite members do the trick!

“With Spring just around the corner, I can’t be more excited to freshen up my space with some help from my friends at Mrs. Meyer’s. As much as I travel, it’s pretty impossible for me to keep any plant [besides succulents] alive so I rely on the must smell scents of the Mrs. Meyer’s to keep my home inviting.” – Saul, Trendstyled

“Spring and Summer are definitely the busiest seasons for our friends and families who are moving into new homes. Not to mention, these months are crazy for us with work, a vacation here and there, as well as trying to uphold a social life! Do you know that feeling? This housewarming gift idea is so practical and easy to prepare! It’s perfect for Spring cleaning!

For this basket I included two of my favorite products from Mrs. Meyer’s. These special edition scents are super fresh and floral. Just how I think of Spring smelling! ” – Taylor, Lights Camera Catwalk

This spring,  Mrs. Meyers didn’t disappoint… their products include my favorite flowers – peonies and lilac. Oh how I wish you could smell them though the computer screen.” – Erin, Hi Lovely

I love Real florals & herbal scents like rosemary and lavender and citrus… but not the chemical ones. I love the scents from pure herbal essential oils in a cold diffuser… We use a lot of “pumpkin spice” scented candles year round in our home, which is also an inn; they make our living/dining room smell lovely for guests, and everyone seems to like the scent. In the guest rooms we have jars with essential oils & sticks to lightly scent the rooms. Personally, I much prefer spicy scents (think: Opium perfume, frankincense), or natural herbal/”green” scents to the sweet florals, which I find cloying. Tea Rose is one I enjoy when it’s real Tea Rose…

I like fresh flowers, but I can rarely justify spending money on them. I like plug ins and candles especially the lavender scented ones.

I love the smell of roses spicy and sweet. I grow rose bushes and cut them and bring them in my home. I also grow varieties of jasmine, gardenia and hyacinth. If I don’t have fresh flowers to cut I use rose essential oil in a diffuser. But one thing I truly love is Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products they work and they smell great.
