MWI: 80% of Millenials Think Retail Apps Are an Everyday Essential

It seems like every single store and restaurant has their own designated app these days. Want to order your coffee before even getting off the bus? There’s an app for that. Want to print out those 90 photos you snapped of your grandkid seeing a sea-lion for the first time? There’s an app for that. Get a sudden panic that you could be saving more as you stand in line waiting to buy some puppy kibble? Yup, definitely an app for that.

With all these options, we thought we’d turn to our members to help sort through the clutter and help you find the must-haves.

First things first – Are retail and dining apps even worth downloading?
Our members answered with a resounding YES. 75% of members have these apps on their phone (80% of Millenial members, 72% for Baby Boomers.) An additional 4% of users wish they had them, but don’t currently have a phone that supports apps…

As far as the number of apps you’re packing: 5+ was the most popular answer, earning 32% of the vote.

Savings and prizes were your primary reasons for downloading so many retail apps, with reward program benefits earning 38% of the vote, and exclusive coupon opportunities getting 37% of it. Convenience features, like easier on-line shopping and logged ordering preferences, lagged behind with 15% and 8%, respectively.

So, which ones were your faves? Target’s CartWheel app was the clear winner, with hundreds of you putting it at the top of your list.

Here are some of the reasons.

“I love the cartwheel app from Target. Nothing better than exclusive savings for Target stores only. The more you use the app the more you save!” –Nicole M., MI | 32

I have a bunch: AliExpress, BangGood, DealXpress, but I wouldn’t have Amazon if I didn’t have to to use Amazon Now.

I, CLM, am an eBay addict.

These apps are worth checking out from what I’ve read. I have never used them before.

I’ll definitely be checking some if these apps out

Amazon, eBay, Walmart are a must for me

no FB? Newspapers/news apps? Every store near you has an app, as does every chain restaurant, 7/11 etc. All come with rewards. Do not have a smart phone, so have them on tablet and try to do a work around. But any place your frequent regularly has a digital reward/email special, so well worth the time and energy. fwiw
